A new mission president has been called by the First Presidency. He and his wife will begin their service about July 1. The new mission president is:
- Gordon R. Hoki, 46, Japan Sapporo Mission; McAllen 1st Ward, McAllen Texas Stake; high councilor; former temple ordinance worker, stake president's counselor, stake executive secretary, and bishop's counselor twice; vice president of Hoki Farms, Inc.; studied ge ology at BYU; born in Murray, Utah, to David Hideyo and Amie Tamura Hoki; married Chieko Koyama, three children. She is a counselor and pianist in ward Primary, and a former ward Relief Society president and counselor, stake and ward Primary president, stake Young Women counselor and Sunday School pianist; received bachelor's degree from BYU; translator/cultural consultant with Panasonic; born in Japan to Noboru and Yuriko Saito Koyama.
