The Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company will travel abroad to perform in two festivals in Slovenia, June 29 through July 14. Ensemble members will also teach at national workshops for Bosnian refugees.
The events - the Ljubljana and Maribor festivals - will be held in the capital of Ljubljana and the city of Koper. Workshops will be held in Ljubljana.As Utah emissaries, the dance company's mission is to bring beauty, hope and friendship to a place 300 miles north of where bombs and shellfire were recently commonplace.
The Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company performed in the same festivals three years ago and presented fund-raising performances to aid more than 500 Bosnian children.
Accompanying the dance troupe will be Andreja Lesksovsek McQuarrie, former Olympic skier from Slovenia who now resides in Salt Lake City.
