Emily Davies Nelson Hogan. Today we say goodbye to a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, whose life was filled with service to others.

Mother was born April 12, 1896 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the seventh child of Joseph and Sarah Griffith Davies. She was the last of a family of 11 brothers and sisters. She celebrated her 100th birthday with friends and family just two months ago. She married James Nelsen in 1916. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was widowed in 1959. Emily married her neighbor and friend Lawrence Hogan. He preceded her in death in 1987.He life was devoted to her family and caring for others. She was a life-long member of the LDS Church, Ivins Ward serving in many positions.

She is survived by a daughter, Cleo McCroden; sons, Wayne and wife Myrna; Byron and wife, Diane; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; a special niece, Juanita Jenkins and countless other friends and relatives. Preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Hays and a grandchild, Michael Littlejohn.

We'll miss her sweet, loving ways but rejoice that she is reunited with others that she loves. The family wishes to thank the Tooele Valley Regional Nursing Home for their loving care and kindness to our mother.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 26, 1996 at 12 noon at the Ivins Ward, 1860 So. 300 East. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Deseret Mortuary, 36 E. 700 S. and again on Wednesday one hour prior to services at the ward. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
