Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 22-year-old Springville woman whose body was found at a west Ogden baseball diamond Saturday morn-ing.
Sheridan Shepherd was found dead at Serge Simmons Field and was positively identified by a tattoo and watch. The woman came to Ogden to party with friends, police said."What we don't know is how she ended up at the field, or how or why her friends left without her," said Lt. Steve Turner.
Police are ruling the death as a murder, as an autopsy performed Sunday determined the death was a homicide, Taylor said. He did not elaborate.
No arrests have been made, although Turner said detectives have "pretty substantial leads."
Investigators also said the woman was found partially nude and it appeared as if she had been dragged, probably head first, down an embankment from a road sometime after 10 p.m. Friday or in the early hours of Saturday.
The victim's body was found by a telephone worker at 9:30 a.m. Saturday near the edge of the parking lot of the field.
