Our loving and precious mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Phyllis Ryser Turman, has been freed from her mortal body and was called home June 22, 1996.
Phyllis was born November 4, 1922 in Salt Lake to George P. and JoHanna Carlson Ryser. She married Elmer Lewis Turman, May 22, 1943; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1949, exactly 47 years earlier. Her life was one of great struggle and valiant example as she endured the challenges of M.S. and coped with raising two children alone. Our home was one of great joy and security because of her sacrifices and devotion. Her life's satisfaction came through her faith, her children, grandchildren and Gigi, her poodle. Despite the challenges she faced she was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served in many positions in her earlier adult years in all the organizations. She loved the members of the North Canyon 3rd Ward. We as her family will be forever grateful for the friendships and service they offered her.
She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Gregory and Bettie Turman, of Kaysville; Clark and Kristy Jenkins, of Bountiful; 12 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Sterling Ryser; three sisters, Merle Bollschweiler, Ruth Kinder and Dawna Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 26, 1996, 11 a.m. in the North Canyon 3rd Ward 2505 South Davis Blvd, in Bountiful. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Wednesday at the church, 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
