Crews use a high-pressure hose to battle a lumberyard blaze Tuesday at Bowen Enterprises in Ogden. Flames stretched 100 feet into the air, causing thousands of dollars of damage and prompting the evacuation of seven nearby homes. Scores of Utah firefighters are being enlisted to fight several wildfires burning out of control throughout the state. High winds, low humidity and treacherous terrain will make containing the blazes nearly impossible, said officials. (See Page B2 for details on all Utah fires.)
