The city is nearing completion on its new Bingham Park, 550 N. 3500 West.
The City Council has approved a low bid of $27,000 from Parsons Paving to asphalt the approach road and parking lot into the new park.Bids will also be taken within the next month for the construction of restrooms for the park.
Mayor Howard Stoddard said soccer field goal posts will also be added this summer, leaving just fencing and a bowery to be installed.
"By fall, we should have the park in good order," Stoddard said.
One problem with the new park has been the sprinkler system heads. Some 75 have malfunctioned and the City Council is negotiating with the sprinkler company to receive some adjustment or compensation for the relatively new equipment.
