SHARE VOTERS IN 4 JURISDICTIONS SAY `YES’ TO TAX INCREASES

Other local tax increases were approved in Paradise, Castle Valley, Randolph and Laketown.

An increase in property taxes to raise money for Castle Valley (Grand County) Fire Protection District passed with 66 percent of the vote, according to complete but unofficial results. The money will be used to buy equipment and maintain it, to maintain and insure vehicles and for general expenses.Likewise, the proposition to raise property taxes in Paradise, Cache County, passed with 78 percent of the vote.

The funds from the tax increase will help maintain town property such as parks, buildings and streets. The increase will also pay for a new well.

A property tax increase to fund maintenance of the Randolph, Rich County, cemetery was approved with 72 percent of the vote.

An increase in property taxes to fund equipment maintenance for the Laketown (Rich County) Fire District passed with 52 percent of the vote. The vote was 102-96 in favor.
