May I offer a tag line on gays and religion?
Being and/or becoming a Christian is not just a statement of belief in, or acceptance of, Christ. It is a call to action, a call to personal purification and to outreaching service, a call to cease from worldly defilement and ungodliness and to begin to pursue a life of righteousness and godliness. It is a call to follow Christ, his path, his commandments and precepts, his example, to work out one's salvation through him and his redeeming power.Yes, it is possible to be a gay Christian, but it is not honestly possible to remain a gay Christian, for by scriptural definition and revealed purpose, the two terms are not compatible in their outlook, goals, behavior or effect on a person.
All men and women of whatever orientation - gay or straight - must discipline themselves, their minds, their emotions, their hearts, their physical drives and their sexuality, and thus yield to and walk the way of Christ.
Christ will accept our approach to him from whatever lifestyle and direction, but he then expects us to become new creatures, covenanted followers, true disciples.
