Registration ongoing for July 24 races

Registration is now being accepted for the 27th annual Deseret News/Granite Furniture Marathon and 13th annual 10K road race at all four Granite Furniture locations, Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation and the Deseret News. Race day is Wednesday, July 24.

Nearly 8,000 applications have been mailed and runners should bring those forms to one of the registration points where they will receive their race packet and T-shirt.

Over 300 volunteers are needed to help with aid stations, the finish line and refreshment area. For info about the race and to volunteer call 468-2560.

Favre leaves clinic

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has completed treatment at the clinic where he was getting help for an addiction to painkillers, his agent said Friday.

The Green Bay Press-Gazette reported that Favre's agent, Bus Cook, confirmed rumors that the NFL's 1995 MVP left the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kan., on Friday.

Cook said Favre, who made public his addiction to the painkillers on May 14, is heading to his family's home in Kiln, Miss.
