State Farm insurance and The Rest of the Jazz, a group consisting of wives and personnel of the Utah Jazz basketball team, contributed $28,900 to Utah classrooms through-out the 1995-96 school year.

The amount, distributed in 289 grants of $100 each, was administered by the Utah Education Association's Foundation for Children at Risk.Lily Eskelsen, president of the foundation as part of her duties as UEA president, said that the teachers who received the grants used the money for a variety of purposes.

"One teacher used the money to buy canes (for) students at the Utah School for the Blind," Es-kel-sen said.

The most popular use for the grant money, said Eskelsen, was for books.
