LDS Business College has added two new positions that deal primarily with finances and has filled them with a longtime college administrator and an auditor for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Stephen K. Woodhouse, the school's president, said both individuals offer valuable skills that will help the school's progress.Carolyn Brown, who has worked as LDS Business College's aca demic dean for 23 years, has been named to the newly created position of vice president of academic affairs. She will have increased budget responsibilities.
Her new job will permit faculty members to have a greater voice in the budget process.
Brown joined the college's English/communications department in 1973. She became director of an associate degree transfer program in 1978 and was appointed dean of academic affairs in 1986.
She directed college accreditation efforts in 1982 and 1992 and also oversaw curriculum development in several departments. As an undergraduate, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Utah and received a federal fellowship to pursue master's and doctoral degrees at the U.
Bob Wiser has been chosen to be LDS Business College's finance
vice president and college controller. He will oversee all financial operations, supervise the financial aid office and conduct internal audits.
Wiser previously worked as a senior auditor for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1984.
Wiser graduated cum laude from Utah State University in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He has supervised audits for such church organizations as the Corporation of the President, Deseret Trust, DMBA and international offices.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors.
