The men who shot and stabbed two Salt Lake men in separate incidents are still at large.
Wayne Garcia, 21, was shot several times when he went outside to see what a friend and another man were fighting about Saturday night at a Salt Lake convenience store.Garcia's unidentified friend and the shooter got into an argument inside the 7-eleven store, 900 S. 800 West, said Capt. Judy Dencker.
As Garcia watched, the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot several rounds at the man he'd been arguing with. Instead of hitting that man, the bullets hit Garcia, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Monday morning he was listed as serious but stable at a local hospital. Police still haven't located the shooter, who is described as a 19-year-old Hispanic male, slightly overweight and wearing a white T-shirt.
On Sunday night, Antonio Bonites was robbed and then stabbed outside Bandaloops, 300 S. 200 West.
A group of men took cash and food stamps from Bonites before stabbing him, Dencker said. Bonites walked to the Regis Hotel, 253 S. State, where he had a friend call police.
He was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
