An internal probe has been unable to verify most of the police misconduct claimed by former Detective Mark Fuhrman in taped talks with a screenwriter that surfaced in O.J. Simpson's trial, it was reported.
Where descriptions seemed to match real incidents, Fuhrman was often not present, and other officers and evidence dispute his accounts when he was present, the Los Angeles Daily News said Friday, citing unidentified sources. The probe of incidents alleged by Fuhrman in conversations recorded by screenwriter Laura Hart McKinny is nearly complete. The report on the probe will be presented to the Police Commission soon.
