Utah Valley State College's Elderhostel organization offers senior citizens the opportunity to explore the historic mines and shops of Park City by foot and/or by air.
During the week of July 28-Aug. 3, active hiking enthusiasts will hit the trails of Park City, exploring old silver mining sights and a variety of mountain trails, including the Rail Trail. During the six-day program, participants will also study the influences that have shaped Utah.Participants can complete their summer by exploring the world at new heights during the week of Sept. 1-7. Students will also learn the science and history of hot air balloon flight and navigation.
They will be able to participate in Park City's Annual Miner's Day festivities, including demonstrations and contests. They will study both modern and ancient mining techniques in the geologically rich Unitah and Wasatch Mountains and at abandoned mines.
