COUGARS DRAFTED: BYU's Patrick Johnson and Ryan Roberts have been selected in the annual professional baseball draft.
The California Angels selected Johnson, a junior catcher from Taylorsville, in the 11th round. The St. Louis Cardinals chose Roberts, a senior third baseman from Orem, in the 30th round.
Johnson tied an NCAA record by hitting two homers for the Cougars in a single inning in a game against Grand Canyon University. He batted .186.
Roberts was the Cougars' leadoff hitter, batting .395 with 23 home runs. He was named to the All-WAC Eastern Division team. He tied a WAC record by scoring 53 runs in a single season.
Weber State
BASKETBALL CAMPS: Four basketball camps, sponsored by Coca-Cola, Nike, Big O Tires and under the direction of the Weber State men's basketball staff, are scheduled for this Summer.
- The Wildcat Junior Shootout is set for June 17-19. It is designed for boys ages 7-12 and focuses on the basic fundamentals of the game. Cost for Day Campers is $130. Charge for overnight campers is $175. . . . Campers will receive individualized instructions, a camp ball and a Nike T-Shirt. Lunch is included in the price of the camp.
- The Nike Senior Shootout is for boys ages 12-18, this camp runs from June 25-28. Cost for Day Campers is $165, and $225 for Overnight Campers. On campus meals will be provided.
- The Hoop Stars camp is for boys and girls ages 7-12. It is a day camp only. Cost is just $75.00 per person and lunch is provided to all campers.
- The Shooting Clinic is for boys of all ages and is set for July 8 and 9. It is a Day Camp only and cost is $75.00 with lunch included. This camp specifically focuses on the fundamentals of shooting.
A $30 deposit is required with all applications and checks are to made payable to the Wildcat Basketball Camp. For applications, call the WSU men's basketball office at 626-6496.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Weber State women's basketball coach Carla Taylor and her staff will conduct two girls basketball camps next week.
A three-day individual camp for players grades 5-12 will be held Monday through Wednesday for a cost of $85.
A one-day shooting camp for players grades 5-12 will be held on Thursday.

BASEBALL DRAFTEE: SUU pitcher/outfielder Ryan Jensen was drafted in the eighth round by the San Francisco Giants in the pro baseball draft this past week. From Cottonwood, Jensen led the T-Birds with nine HRs and 62 RBI while notching a 3-7 record and an 8.66 ERA.
