Consumer advocate Ralph Nader will appear on the presidential ballot in Oregon as the candidate of the Pacific Party, the party said.
Nader already is on the presidential ballot in other states, including California, Colorado, New Mexico, Alaska and Maine. The party expects Nader to appear on the ballot in 40 states.The party will hold its nominating convention Saturday in Corvallis. Party activists wrote Nader on April 16 asking that he allow his name to be placed in nomination.
"Recent years have seen the Republican Party move to the extreme right, and the Democratic Party increasingly become a wholly owned subsidiary of corporate America," the letter said.
"Never has it been clearer that we need an alternative political force representing democracy, ecological common sense and social justice."
