In a two-day ESPNET SportsZone poll conducted on the World Wide Web - at espnet.sportszone.com - 72 percent of the 9,130 respondents prefered the Utah Jazz's new logo over the old team emblem.
Meet of Champions
Athletes from all five classifications will compete for top honors at the Meet of Champions high school track meet today at Murray High School. Opening ceremonies are slated for 4 p.m.,with the awards ceremony slated for 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
New AD at 'Bama
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Bob Bockrath, a former assistant football coach who once played for Bo Schembechler, was selected the new athletic director at Alabama on Friday.
Bockrath, 53, who had that job at Texas Tech, will replace interim athletic director Glen Tuckett, who took over when Hootie Ingram resigned in the wake of NCAA sanctions against the Crimson Tide. Tuckett formerly was the longtime AD at Brigham Young University.
