Two teens tried to carjack a BMW outside Fashion Place Mall Saturday afternoon, injuring two other teens who were inside the sports car.
Murray Police Sgt. Scott Robinson said a 17-year-old driver in the suspect vehicle tried to cut off a 19-year-old driving the BMW about 2 p.m. in the mall's parking lot, 6100 South State.A 17-year-old suspect jumped out of his car and stabbed the BMW driver in the stomach. The victim, whose name was not released by police, was treated at Cottonwood Hospital and released.
A 17-year-old passenger in the BMW got out of the car to help the driver when a 19-year-old in the suspect vehicle attempted to run over the BMW passenger. His name was also not released. He was treated for bruises and cuts.
The 17- and 19-year-old suspects in the carjacking were later arrested and will be booked into jail and youth detention on investigation of aggravated robbery and aggravated assault, Robinson said.
Police believe the suspects have gang affiliations.
