Actor Wilford Brimley has been ordered to pay $125,000 to his former partner in a movie deal that never materialized.

South Jordan rancher Otto F. Jones paid a $150,000 advance to get the project off the ground four years ago. The film was to have been about the family of Wyoming rancher Stan Jolley, a friend of Brimley's.Jones contended Brimley promised to deliver a screenplay, locate investors, sign up actors and direct the movie.

After a two-day, non-jury trial, 3rd District Judge Homer F. Wilkinson ruled Thursday that Brim-ley did not provide the specified services.

The judge said Brimley earned $25,000 by working briefly with a Hollywood screenwriter and making calls to several actors.

Wilkinson said Brimley was unable to perform further on the contract after the screenwriter died a month into the project and a script was never produced.
