Officials in the not-yet-formal Department of Workforce Services will host the first in a series of meeting designed to organize the department Thursday, June 13, from noon to 4 p.m.
The department was created during the last legislative session and aims to merge employment and training programs throughout the state. The department will house several agencies including the Division of Family Support, Department of Employment Security, Utah Industrial Commission and Turning Point programs.The meeting at the Employment Security department, 140 E. 300 South, Room 211, will help the organizing committee prioritize topics to study. The public is invited to attend to this and other organizing meetings in the future.
The department becomes official in July 1997.
