Florence Starkey Dowd, died April 24, 1996 in Palm Springs, California.

She was born in Missouri to Frank Starkey and Virginia Cozean. She was married to Hubert F. Dowd for almost 60 years. They moved to Park City in the late 20's, then moved to Bingham where Hubert and Mel Kidder were partners in a grocery store which later moved to Copperton. The family lived in Midvale from 1948 to 1992.Florence managed Brown's shoe store for 30 years and was well known and liked by the community. She also made some sought-after cookies and candies. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and daughter, Donna.

She is survived by her son, Mick; her sister, Mary Lou and brother, Reggie and by her three grandsons, Gary, Bob and Todd Mickelson. She is also survived by two great grandsons and three great great-grandsons.

A special thanks to all those friends, neighbors and relatives who watched out for Florence and Hubert in their later years, especially the Kidders, Mel, Grace and Bill, whom they dearly loved. She was a wonderful mother and wife and will be missed.

A memorial service will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 So. 1700 East Street, in Sandy at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 1996.
