Electrical problems caused by a broken water line have forced Weber State University to cancel some theatrical performances in the Val A. Browning Center.
The problems began a week ago when a broken water line disrupted the air conditioning to the Monson and Allred theaters in the building. This weekend, another line broke, covering the building's basement with 6 inches of water and disrupting electrical service.
Because of the power outage, the Utah Musical Theater has canceled performances of "Forever Plaid" and "The Will Rogers' Follies" through July 13. The shows will go on beginning July 15, with extra matinees scheduled.
"The Sound of Music," will open a week later than scheduled, July 26, and run through Aug. 17. The Aug. 9-24 showing of "Damn Yankees" has been canceled.
Patrons with tickets for this week's performances are encouraged to call the Dee Events Center Ticket Office, 626-8500 or 1-800-WSU-TIKS, to discuss alternate performance options.
