Walter Abslum Williams, 80, died July 9, 1996 in Gunnison, Utah.

He was born June 18, 1916 in Salina, Utah, a son of Floyd A. and Florence Paulk Williams. He married Josephine Chidester, April 13, 1946 in Richfield, Utah. Veteran of World War II, one of the first on Normandy Beach.Survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen (Keith) LeFevre, Draper; Mrs. JoAnn (Ron) Greene, Ephraim; stepchildren, Betty Lou (Ervin) Allen, Rangley, Colorado; Ray (Linda) Chidester, West Valley; four grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 18 stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-stepgrandchildren; brothers, sisters, Gertrud Winn, Richfield; Clark Williams (Jewel), Redmond; Jewel Grant (Bill), McGill, Nevada; Terry Williams (Marilyn) and Sally Nielsen, both of Salt Lake.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 12, 11 a.m., in the Salina Second Ward. Friends may call at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Thursday evening 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday morning 9:30 to 10:30 prior to service. Military Rites by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Salina and Richfield.
