A Salt Lake County man accused of breaking into a Copperton home, getting into a young girl's bed and then molesting her was charged Tuesday with felony counts of burglary and forcible sexual abuse.

Prosecutors say the man, 28, Copperton, entered a home near 100 W. State Highway on July 5 by taking off a screen from a bathroom window.He went to the bedroom of the victim, who awoke as the man stood by her bed, according to charges filed in 3rd Circuit Court. The man then took off his shorts and got into the bed.

The suspect fled as officers with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department arrived.

The man was later arrested, booked into the Salt Lake County Jail and then posted bail. He is charged with two second-degree felony counts.
