Harry Morgan, the taciturn officer Bill Gannon on TV's "Dragnet" and the beloved Col. Sherman Potter on "MASH," posted $5,000 and was released on charges he beat his 70-year-old wife.
Morgan, 81, was charged Wednesday with misdemeanor spousal battery, which carries a penalty of up to a year in jail.Officers responding to a 911 call in Brentwood, Calif., July 2 heard a woman's screams as they approached the house. They found a distraught Barbara Morgan inside, with an injured left foot, a small cut near her right eye and a bruised arm.
She told officers she was injured when a quarrel with her husband turned violent. She was treated at the house and again at a hospital.
