A festival of films for children will highlight the Western United States Child Advocacy Summit Conference at the University of Utah on Friday, with 10 live-action and animated shorts to be screened in a pair of one-hour programs.

The Children's Film and Video Festival, presented by the U. Graduate School of Social Work and Utah Children, will screen five short films and videos at 8:15 p.m., followed by five more at 9:15. In addition there will be 30 titles available for individual viewing and purchase.Preceding the film festival, Ranny Levy, president of the Coalition for Quality Children's Media, will speak on how programs for children can be improved. And young members of the Dancers Theatre Company (from the Life Arts Center) will perform at 8 p.m.

Activities will be held in the U. Fine Arts auditorium. Admission is $5, which includes all events, screenings and free ice cream.
