Blaine Stapley, age 86, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 1996 in Cedar City, Utah.

He was born July 13, 1909 in Beaver, Utah to William Francis Stapley and Lucy Ann Barton. He married Edna Heaton Stapley on September 2, 1931 in St. George, Utah.Blaine worked for W. W. Clyde Construction Co., the Utah Parks, Columbia Iron Mines and Atkin Plumbing and Heating before establishing his own business, Stapley Plumbing and Heating in Cedar City, Utah.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities including ward bishoprics, as counselor in the Cedar Stake Presidency with President Whatcott and President Heywood. He and his wife filled a mission for the LDS Church in the California, Los Angeles Mission at the temple visitor's center.

He enjoyed nature, hunting, fishing and gardening. He especially liked to give the bounties of his garden to neighbors and friends. He was known for his honesty, hard work and love for his fellowmen.

Blaine is survived by his wife, Edna; and children, Kent H. Stapley (Bonnie) of Cedar City, Utah; Ronald Blaine Stapley (Julie) of Platte City, Missouri; and Marilyn Stapley Hawley (Jerry) of Richfield, Utah; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Mrs Marvin Jensen (Lucille) of Bountiful, Utah; Lolene Schenck of Provo, Utah; Frank Stapley of Hurricane, Utah; J. Smith Stapley of Cedar City, Utah.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 12, 1996 at 11 a.m. in the Cedar City 14th LDS Ward, 900 West 61 North. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday morning, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Southern Utah Mortuary. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery.
