The exhibition, "The Buffalo in Art and Culture: Legacy of an American Symbol," features archaeological and cultural artifacts, fine art, photographs, manuscripts and other objects.Programs offered during the exhibition's run are going to focus on topics that will include the importance of the bison to American Indians, and the buffalo's image as a symbol of patriotism, nostalgia and power.

The exhibition is sponsored jointly by the museum, the university's anthropology department and the American Heritage Center. It will be on display through Sept. 1.
