The Granite Board of Education ratified the appointment of Annette Duzett to acting director of junior high school services Tuesday. She replaces Barry Richards, the new director of high school services.

Duzett was principal of Churchill Junior High School before accepting the position in the district office. She was appointed associate director of high school services in April, but the department vacated the position.Duzett has been in the Granite district since 1974, as a teacher, assistant principal and principal at several junior high and high schools.

Her experiences teaching French, German and English helped her co-author the district's foreign language program. She also helped establish the year-round junior high program.

Duzett was selected Granite's Administrator of the Year in 1989.

Other appointments ratified at the meeting include:

- H. Kathryn Merrill as the new assistant principal at John F. Kennedy Junior High. This appointment comes after the resignation of Sundee Ripley-Ware. Merrill was a leader preparation program intern at Thomas Bacchus and Jim Bridger elementary schools. To go with her law degree from Brigham Young University's J. Rueben Clark Law School, Merrill will receive her doctorate in educational leadership from BYU in August.

- David J. Clark was appointed the new foreman of the carpentry and hardware department, along with the appointments of James E. Lindquist to foreman of the paint and interiors department, and Von Roskelly to foreman of the general maintenance department.

- Danny Talbot moved from director of high school services to superintendent of Wasatch School District. Former director of junior high school services Barry Richards replaced Talbot as director in the high school services department.

- Darryl Thomas is the new associate director and testing interim associate director of junior high school services, formerly occupying the associate director of testing services position.

- Before assuming the position of Skyline High School principal, assistant principal Sundee Listello requested a leave of absence. She will be replaced by Judy Stanfield, former director of elementary school services.
