G.S. Pearson of South Jordan recently wrote an article to the Forum saying that his father, who recently visited him, picked up 200 cans in four days when he went on his early morning walks. Mr. Pearson suggested that we could all do a better job of picking up trash where we find it.

I suggest we all do a better job of preventing the need for others to clean up our trash when they go walking.Remember 20 years or so ago when we used to never throw trash, not even a small scrap of paper, onto the ground? We were not only warned not to be a "litterbug" but that if anyone was one, that person would be heavily fined. It was against the law to litter, and parents warned their children that they must keep their scraps until they could place them in proper containers.

Bless Mr. Pearson's father and others like him who pick up trash when they see it, but let us stop being litterbugs.
