Almost 1,500 acres of pinyon pine, juniper and sagebrush has burned in Juab County since Tuesday after lightning sparked a series of wildfires.
Dubbed the Gilson Mountain Fire Complex, the blazes are burning in remote, rugged terrain about 25 miles southwest of Nephi, according to fire information officer Linda Jackson.Helicopters have made several retardant drops, and ground crews were expected to spend Friday digging containment lines around the fire.

Meanwhile, the 33,300-acre Davis-Knolls fire in Tooele County was contained Thursday.
