The Better Business Bureau of Utah has established an awards program to recognize those businesses that maintain a commitment to conduct their business practices in an ethical manner.
Bill Beadle, BBB president, said awards will be presented during a luncheon on Oct. 23 to a company with less than 20 employees, one with 21 to 99 employees and one with more than 100 employees. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 1.Pamphlets explaining the awards programs was included in BBB's June newsletter.
According to the pamphlet, the award-winning companies must have:
- High standards of behavior toward customers, suppliers and users.
- High standards of behavior toward shareholders, employees and communities in which they do business.
- Demonstrated ethical practices surrounding their buyer/seller relationships.
- A long-standing history/-reputation of ethical practices in the marketplace.
- Marketing, advertising, communications and sales practices that reflect a true representation of what is being offered in the marketplace.
- Been considered outstanding by industry peers and in the communities in which they serve.
- Policies in place that are effectively communicated to employees.
- Policies that are designed to give long-term value to shareholders and customers.
- Trained their employees to carry out their established policies.
