Three people were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs and illegal weapons Wednesday after a tip from a security guard at a downtown Provo hotel.

Officers from the Utah County Narcotic Enforcement Team arrived at the hotel and arrested a 35-year-old Pleasant Grove man as he left a room hotel employees suspected was being used to deal drugs.The man was charged with possession of methamphetamines with intent to distribute in a drug-free zone and possession of a concealed weapon by a restricted person, said Sgt. Mike Blackhurst, NET project director.

Officers then executed a search warrant at the hotel room and arrested a 32-year-old Orem man and a 36-year-old Orem woman. The pair was charged with possession of methamphetamines - street value estimated at $8,500 - with intent to distribute in a drug-free zone.

Other charges brought against the pair were possession of a loaded firearm by a restricted person and possession of drug paraphernalia in a drug-free zone.

NET officers also seized $12,300 cash from the hotel room.
