For $1, a Boise woman got a used car to replace a vehicle lost to a carjacker.
Brooke Wilmoth was without transportation after Mario Louis Jaramillo stole her car at gunpoint on June 24 and later crashed it into a light post. Jaramillo was shot to death by police after firing several shots at them. The vehicle wasn't covered by collision insurance.Roundtree Chevrolet in Boise gave Wilmoth a 1987 Nissan Stanza to replace her 1975 Ford Maverick. They charged her $1.
"What really struck me was that she was concerned more with someone losing their life, than her losing her car," said Carl Fromholz, a salesman at Roundtree.
"A lot of guys here at Roundtree volunteered their time. We put in a new windshield. They detailed it, and the mechanics took it out for a safety inspection," he said.
