A city employee remains hospitalized Friday in critical condition after a tractor he was operating caught on fire earlier this week.
Brad Pulver, 24, is in critical but stable condition at the University of Utah's Intermountain Burn Center. He has second- and third-degree burns on 34 percent of his body.Pulver and fellow employee Tolly Ivie, 21, were using a torch to clear weeds at the city's equestrian park Tuesday. When gas began spraying from the tractor's gas cap, Pulver attempted to tighten the cap, said parks department supervisor Blair Andreason.
The gas ignited, causing Pulver and Ivie to jump away from the tractor. Both men were transported to Mountain View Hospital, where Ivie was treated and released. Pulver was later flown to Salt Lake City for treatment.
Payson firefighters were called in to put out the fire surrounding the tractor after the 3 p.m. accident.
