The third annual "Rockin' for Rhinos" concert is scheduled from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today in the World of Flight arena at Hogle Zoo.
Free with zoo admission, the concert is sponsored by the Utah Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers, with all the proceeds benefiting the Ngare Sergoi (pronoucned na-gar-se-goy) Rhino Sanctuary in Kenya, Africa.Zoo visitors will be able to enjoy an evening of folk, rock and blues music performed by two Salt Lake bands, Stone Mountain and Motherlode. Zoo keepers will attend to talk about the sanctuary and the plight of endangered animals, said zoo staffer Gary Tingey.
The sanctuary is home to 16 black rhinos and 14 white rhinos.
