James "Bud" A. Holden, 84, died July 6, 1996, in Arizona.

He was born July 31, 1911, in Salt Lake City, a son of Alma and Mary Robinson Holden. He married Violet E. Covey in 1931. They were later divorced. He later married Melba Fisher on September 25, 1946, in Nevada; the marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.He served in the Navy during World War II. He retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1967.

He was a member of the LDS Church where he was a high priest.

Surviving is his wife of Phoenix; children, Roy (Arlene) Holden of Sunset; Don (Rubye) Wright of Galena, Mo.; Geraldine Cain of Phoenix; June (Larry) Spiers of Ogden; Tamara Holden of Portland, Ore.; Cheryl Jones of Phoenix; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Heward, Fred and Don; his sister, Elizabeth; grandson, David Spiers; and son-in-law, Donald Cain.
