A speeding car driven by former Ohio State receiver Terry Glenn slammed into a tree in front of a home over the weekend, slightly injuring his passenger.
Glenn, who police said was driving 60 mph in a 35 mph zone, has been charged with failure to control his car and driving with a suspended license.Officers did not believe Glenn was impaired and did not require him to take a sobriety test at the accident site.
Sgt. Brian Quinn of the Upper Arlington police department said Glenn's car, which was destroyed, was seized after police discovered he was driving under suspension.
Glenn, the New England Patriots first-round pick in this year's draft, is to appear Thursday in Franklin County Municipal Court.
Glenn was not hurt in the accident, which was reported to police at 12:11 a.m. Saturday. His passenger, Chris Snider, 23, of Columbus, was treated at Ohio State University Medical Center and released.
"We were relieved to hear that Terry and his passenger suffered only minor cuts and bruises in the accident and that this will not keep Terry from returning to New England within the next week to begin the season," the Patriots said. "Based on the information we have, we consider this incident to be a simple automobile mishap which, fortunately, did not result in any serious problems."
