Delta Air Lines flights between Salt Lake City and Boston, Cincinnati, Chicago, Orlando, Las Vegas and Los Angeles have been added to the company's electronic ticketing trial period.

Lee Macenczak, Delta's director of distribution planning, said, "We are increasing the number of eligible routes for electronic ticketing because our initial trial has been such a success."During the trial period, nonstop, as well as some connecting services, will be eligible for electronic ticketing. For example, passengers going from Salt Lake City to Tampa via a connection in Cincinnati will be eligible for electronic ticketing.

When customers call Delta to book a flight on one of the eligible flights, the reservation clerk will offer the electronic ticketing option. Those choosing this option make their reservation and purchase their seats with a credit card and a receipt and itinerary card are mailed to the customer but not required for travel.

Customers then check in at the airport with appropriate identification and receive a boarding pass. Customers may obtain a boarding pass at any Delta location within the airport including most Crown Rooms at curbside from the skycap, the departure gate, information counter and the main ticket counter.

Electronic ticketing is a system of documenting the sale and tracking usage of passenger transportation without requiring a paper ticket, It benefits the customer because it isn't necessary to go to a ticketing location to pick up a paper ticket and the risk of losing a ticket is eliminated, a Delta spokesman said.
