Frank Eber Eastman, 78, died July 7, 1996 in Provo, Utah.
He was born in Tooele, Utah, June 4, 1918, to Frank G. and Mary Elsie England Eastman. He graduated from Tooele High School in May 1936 and attended his 60th class reunion June 29th. Frank married Bessie Sutherland in Tooele, May 21, 1937. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with two children, Paul and Nan. Frank and Bessie lived in Tooele until 1993, when they moved to Provo to be close to their son.Frank was the first trooper of the Utah Highway Patrol to be stationed in Tooele County. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during the later years of World War II. Employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., he operated Frank's Spudnut Shop, was a Tooele City policeman and retired from the Tooele Army Depot as a millwright in 1982.
Frank had a great love for flying and he went out of his way to make it possible for many young men and women to learn to fly. His happiest years were when he flew for McFarland & Hullinger and operated a small flying service at the Tooele Airport. He served a four year term as a Tooele City councilman. He loved serving as a fireman for the Tooele City Volunteer Fire Department where he received his 50 year service award several years ago.
Frank was active in the LDS Church and served as a ward clerk and High Priest Group leader. His favorite calling was as a home teacher.
Surviving are his wife, Bessie and son, Paul and daughter-in-law, Marge, Provo, Utah; three grandchildren, David, Douglas and Sherry Gunn; nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Dan M. Eastman, Salt Lake City; sisters, Catherine McNeil, Tooele; and Mary Rae Brown, Bountiful. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nan Eastman and his parents.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 11, at 11 a.m., at the Tate Mortuary Chapel. Friends may call on Wednesday, July 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday July 11 one hour prior to the services at the Tate Mortuary. Interment will be in the Tooele City Cemetery.
