A group of Centerville residents is trying to raise nearly $100,000 as down payment on land to create a wetlands park and preserve.
The Concerned Citizens of Centerville wants to buy nine acres slated for subdivision development between the I-15 frontage road and 400 West at around 1900 North.A series of meetings and tours of the site are being sponsored by the group, which is trying to meet the July 15 deadline to raise $98,000 as a down payment. The last meeting will be Wednesday, July 10, both at 7 p.m. at Centerville Junior High School.
The group hopes to secure funding from other state and private preservation groups to raise another $290,000 over the next five years to develop educational and recreation facilities in the preserve.
