Lindon
In its July 2 meeting, the City Council:
- Denied a claim for a broken windshield sustained at a parking lot near a city baseball field. The council asked that signs be installed near baseball diamonds warning people that they park at their own risk.
- Indicated that the city computer system would be upgraded this year. Officials are looking for a consultant to tell them what they need to do.
Alpine
In its July 2 meeting, the Planning Commission:
- Reviewed a draft ordinance, required by state law, that would define the roles of the City Council Planning Commission, Board of Adjustment and zoning administrator.
- Reviewed the concepts behind the Summit Hills subdivision, which is regrouping because the council nixed booster pumps to get water into the hills. City officials are not bowing to satellite water tanks or booster pumps to facilitate hillside development. The council also reviewed the Willow Canyon subdivision, which is the controversial Kester-Freeze annexation that recently won City Council approval.
Spanish Fork
In its July 2 meeting, the Planning Commission:
- Approved a plat map of a new subdivision called Orchard View Heights with 12 lots at 820 East and 750 South by Abraham Allan.

- Approved a bid for the installation of 2,000 feet of 12-inch waterline on Center Street to Grant Hone Excavating for more than $181,000.
- Approved an emergency ordinance banning fireworks in The Oaks, a subdivision in a wooded area on the city's east side, and a half mile radius around that area. The ordinance makes shooting fireworks in that area a class C misdemeanor.
- Modified a previous moratorium on accessory buildings in residential areas to allow them if they met certain standards. The standards include rules on height and how far they need to be from the property line. A new rule allows detached buildings to occupy only 5 percent of the total lot.
