Madge Harper Stagg Chard, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, July 30, 1996.

Madge was born in Eureka, Utah, to Sarah Melita Openshaw and Walter Payton Harper. She was married to Ernest George Stagg in 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The marriage was performed by President Heber J. Grant. They were the parents of three children, Sharon Jones (Keith), Idaho Falls, Idaho; Ted Stagg (Pat), Salt Lake City; Robert Stagg (Jackie), Houston, Texas. Ernie passed away May 27, 1965.In 1989 she married Ray E. Chard in the Jordan River Temple.

Madge served as an executive secretary for the Utah PTA. Active member in the LDS Church, she served faithfully as a visiting teacher, leader, counselor, and president in the Primary, MIA, and Relief Society.

She is survived by her husband, Ray; three children; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ila Callister, Newport Beach, Calif.; her loving care giver, Vicki. Preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, and husband, Ernie.

She will always be remembered for her unconditional love and generosity. Our mom and grandma had a way of filling our hearts with love that will last forever.

Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always there-still loved, still missed, forever dear.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, 1996 at 1 p.m. at the Little Cottonwood 16th Ward, 6350 So. Rodeo Lane (1545 East). Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 So.) and Saturday for one hour prior to service at the church. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
