Most events in Garfield County's annual fair get under way Friday.
A junior horse show will kick off events Friday at 9 a.m. Exhibits and the midway will open at 10 a.m. and continue to 6 p.m.Also on that day will be Dutch oven and outdoor cookout demonstrations at 12 noon; 4-H demonstrations, 2 p.m.; "sexy" legs contest, 3 p.m.; leg wrestling and three-leg race, 5 p.m.; and a hypnosis show at 8 p.m., followed by a dance.
The junior livestock show on Saturday will open at 8 a.m. with entry of poultry, fowl and small animals. Junior and adult judging contests will be at 10 a.m.; judging of market swine, beef and lambs at 10:30 a.m.; and judging of livestock classes at 11:30 a.m.
Highlights of other Saturday fair activities will be a paper airplane contest at 11:30 a.m.; Dutch oven and outdoor cookout demonstrations, 12 noon; look-alike contests involving mothers, fathers, daughters and sons, 1:30 p.m.; talent contest and fashion show, 2 p.m.; county commissioners' barbecue dinner, 5:30 p.m.; demolition derby with tug-of-war contest during intermission, 7 p.m.; and a dance at 9 p.m.
