SHARE BARBARA SCOWCROFT, FORMER GUILD CHIEF, DIES

Former Utah Symphony Guild President Barbara Marie Caine Scowcroft, 73, died Aug. 16, 1996, in Salt Lake City.

Mrs. Scowcroft was the symphony guild president for two years and was a member of the symphony's board of directors for 10 years.In 1979, Mrs. Scowcroft was the first woman named to the Utah Hotel Co. board of directors. She was involved in many other clubs, guilds and organizations including Junior League, Girl Scouts of America and the Parents Association of New Trier High School in suburban Chicago, where she served as president.

Mrs. Scowcroft received the Emeritus Alumni Association Merit of Honor Award at the University of Utah in 1992. She graduated from the U. in 1945 with a bachelor's degree in business.

Funeral will be at noon Wednesday, Aug. 21, in the Arlington Hills/Federal Heights LDS ward chapel, 1300 E. Fairfax Road (1445 E. 285 North). Friends may call at the church 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at the Ogden City Cemetery.
