Investigators seeking a 6-year-old boy who disappeared one week ago are looking for someone who knew the boy and also might have a history of abusing children.

Lance Guevarra was last seen leaving a neighbor's mobile home the evening of Aug. 13. The boy's father was with a friend that evening, and Lance's mother was home with her eldest son Sheath, 12, so the parents have solid alibis, said Kane County deputy Allen Johnson. The Guevarras were willing to take lie-detector exams, but Johnson said that will not be necessary as "they're not being looked at as suspects at this time."

"That's good news," Kimberly Guevarra said Monday. "I feel at least they're not wasting their time in that area."

With the assistance of the FBI, investigators are trying to do background checks on the 200 to 300 residents of Big Water to see if anyone has been arrested or convicted of a crime involving a child.
