SHARE SANPETE COUNTY FAIR TO HAVE CENTENNIAL THEME

Sanpete County's annual fair this week will be keyed to the theme: "A Centennial Celebration: Sanpete Style."

The exhibition building will open on Wednesday, Aug. 28. The carnival will be operating and there'll be livestock fitting and showing.The big event Thursday will be the demolition derby at the fairgrounds arena at 7:30 p.m. It will be preceded by contest judgingand the first in a series of a daily talent shows from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Friday's morning agenda will include small animal judging, a pet show and the animal posters exhibit. At 2 p.m. in the grandstand will be a cowboy poetry show, with some of the performers touching on the centennial theme, another talent show and a livestock sale.

And Friday's events will be topped off the Clegg Championship Rodeo at the arena at 8 p.m.

During the rodeo, the Miss Sanpete pageant winners, the Cowboy Sweethearts, King Cowboy and the Junior Princess Royalty will be presented.

The main Saturday events will be a car show, with almost 100 vehicles on exhibit.

A cookout contest - with free samples in front of the exhibition building - begins at noon, horse pulls in the grandstand area start at 1 p.m., the mile-long parade down Main Street begins at 5 p.m. and the second performance of the rodeo at 8 p.m.

"We'll distribute hundreds of white, red and blue ribbons and around $6,000 in good cash money to the winning exhibitors." said Brad Bown, fair board chairman.
