Haven Barlow, former Utah state senator, received the first Champion of Technology award given by the Davis Applied Technology Center.

Barlow was characterized as instrumental in the establishment of applied technology centers in Utah. He sponsored legislation for the land purchase and construction of the Davis center and helped raise funds for its additions.During his 42 years in the Legislature (longest in Utah history), Barlow "was the major player in making sure college students can support their families," said Senate President Lane Beattie. He was also involved in "getting young people who are not college-bound into good jobs."
