A Midvale man is in critical condition after being assaulted with a piece of luggage at 300 W. 7200 South Tuesday afternoon.

The victim, whose name has not been released pending notification of relatives, was flown to LDS Hospital with head injuries.Witnesses saw the victim in a verbal argument with another man when the suspect swung a bag and hit the victim in the head. The victim fell to the ground and hit his head on the sidewalk, said Midvale Police Sgt. Steve Stinson.

Several pieces of luggage have been recovered, but the weapon has not been identified, said Stinson.

Police are looking for the suspect, described as a 6-foot, 190-pound, white male, 23, in the aggravated assault.

The incident appears to be drug-related, Stinson said.
